Planning a trip should feel exciting, not overwhelming. This is where the Notion Template Travel Planner can help!
When my husband started planning a return trip to Japan, I thought it would be fun to make him a simple digital place to collect all the places he wanted to visit. There was only one small challenge:
He despises complicated technology.
If something feels like a system he has to learn, he won’t use it. But he does enjoy researching places, bookmarking interesting spots, and dreaming about the trip ahead.
So I built something specifically for him: a minimal travel planner inside Notion.
And the goal was simple.
Not fancy.
Not complicated.
Just useful.

Built for Real People (Not Productivity Nerds)
If you’ve ever opened someone else’s Notion template and immediately felt confused, you’re not alone. Many templates are designed for power users and end up feeling like a maze of dashboards and hidden databases.
This travel planner is the opposite.
It’s designed so you can simply:
• add places you want to visit
• drop in links or screenshots
• organize ideas by destination
• optionally add travel dates later
That’s it.
You don’t need to learn a complicated system to start using it.

What You Can Do With This Travel Planner
The template centers around one simple idea: collecting places you want to go.
From there, everything else falls into place.
You can use it to:
- Save destinations you discover online
- Organize places by city or area
- Create a simple travel itinerary
- Track places you’d like to eat or explore
- Keep travel ideas in one place instead of scattered bookmarks
If you add dates to any location, it will automatically appear in the calendar view, making it easy to see how your trip might unfold.

Phone Friendly and Simple to Use
Most people research trips from their phone while browsing online. This template was designed with that in mind.
You can quickly:
• paste a link
• drag in a screenshot
• add a quick note
Even if you never use the advanced features, the template still works perfectly as a simple travel idea board.

Originally Built for My Husband
This planner started as a personal project for my husband’s upcoming trip to Japan. He lived in Kyoto as a foreign exchange student years ago, and he’s excited to return and explore both Kyoto and Tokyo again.
I needed something simple enough that he’d actually use it — and flexible enough to hold all the places he discovers while researching.
Once it was finished, I realized other people might enjoy the same kind of minimal, stress-free travel planner.
So I decided to share it.
